WOOD PERGOLAS.

Cedar and redwood pergolas — classic, warm, hand-built. Higher maintenance than aluminum but with a character no manufactured product can match.

Why this matters

REAL WOOD,
REAL CHARACTER.

A wood pergola fits some homes — craftsman bungalows, log-cabin moderns, ranch-style backyards — better than any aluminum system can. We build them in cedar (most common) or redwood (premium) using traditional joinery and contemporary structural connections.

Trade-off: wood pergolas need re-staining every 3-5 years to look their best. We offer maintenance plans, or you can DIY it.

Redwood

Premium. Deeper color, slightly more stable. ~30% more than cedar.

Premium

03

Pressure-Treated Pine

Budget option. Rot-resistant but never quite the same look as cedar/redwood.

FAQ

WOOD PERGOLAS QUESTIONS.

How often do I need to re-stain?

Every 3-5 years on the Wasatch Front. South-facing exposures sometimes need it sooner.

Wood vs aluminum — which should I pick?

Wood for character and design fit. Aluminum for zero-maintenance and longer life. We're happy with either.

Will it hold up in Utah weather?

Cedar and redwood handle Utah climate well. Pressure-treated pine is fine but typically warps more over time.

Can it support climbing plants?

Yes — we engineer for vine load (wisteria, grapes, climbing roses) when it's part of the plan.

Does it need a permit?

Pergolas attached to the house typically do; freestanding ones over a certain size do too. We handle permits.

Can I add a roof later?

Yes — wood pergolas can be retrofit with translucent panels or canopies. Plan for it during initial install if you know.
